Harvard Business School Online:

A few years ago, Harvard Business School Online published an article about the "Triple Bottom Line." In this article, they define this concept as, "a business concept that states firms should commit to measuring their social and environment impact - in addition to their financial performance - rather than solely focusing on generating profit, or the standard 'bottom line'." The author describes the "three P's" to be considered - people, planet, and profit. They offer information on why having a "Triple Bottom Line" is important and how to get there.
